Parent-Child Dedication is a special celebration for parents who are making a commitment to raise their children in a Christ-centered home. On designated dates, parents make a public pledge before the church, family, and friends. The Stafford Crossing community commits to encourage these parents as they raise their children to trust and follow Jesus.
Parents will participate in a process before the dedication service which includes listening to two short audio segments and completing some short homework assignments (click here for homework sessions
). Next, parents will participate in an orientation session. Finally, parents will affirm their commitment before the church family at a Sunday morning gathering.FAQsWho is allowed on stage during the service?
The parents who are making the commitment and all of their children (including the child being celebrated) are invited to participate on stage. Grandparents, friends, and other family members are invited to sit near the stage if they wish, but will not be permitted on stage due to limited stage space. At the conclusion of the dedication time, extended family will be asked to join the family in front of the stage for a time of prayer.
What is a life verse?
A life verse is a special verse a parent selects for a particular child. This verse will be read over the child during the dedication service and a certificate with the verse will be provided to each family at the conclusion of the service. We can assist parents with the selection process during orientation, if desired. Are there any age requirements for participation?
Most parents who participate are celebrating a baby or preschool age child, but parents with children of any age who still live in the home may choose to participate.
