ADMIT YOU HAVE SINNED
It is probably clear to you that this world is broken in almost every way. What may not be initially obvious is the guilt we each bear for this brokenness. The wrong we have done (called sin in the Bible) is like a cancer consuming us and this world. God's justice demands a consequence for our sin...death.
"For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. " Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 6:23

BELIEVE IN JESUS
Here's the good news, while God's justice requires punishment for our sin, His love made a just way to forgive all our sin, no matter how big or small. God sent Jesus to be our substitute and take our punishment when He died on the cross. Jesus said that if you put your trust in Him, you will have forgiveness and eternal life.
"For it is my Father’s will that all who see his Son and believe in him should have eternal life. " John 6:40

CONFESS THAT JESUS IS LORD
There is a big difference between feeling love for someone and telling them you love them. Saying "I love you" for the first time is a big deal. Similarly, once you have decided that you believe in Jesus and want to trust in Him, you need to let God know this. You don't need special words or a formula. Just use your own words to express your trust in Jesus, ask for His forgiveness, and express your desire to follow Him in your life.
"That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
