A Note From Pastor Darryl

It seems each year Christmas starts earlier and earlier. Stores have been getting ready since before Halloween and online sellers have been doing Black Friday sales for what feels like months. Yet, there is still a part of me that finds it hard to believe that December is here already. As we enter the Christmas season, we will turn to a study called "The Other Side of Christmas.” It will be a reminder of what life is like on the one side before Christmas and what life can now be on the other side of Christmas. The birth of Jesus changes everything.

Various people in our church have been asked to reflect on Scripture and write a devotional to help us focus on the difference Jesus makes in our lives. Some of the writers may be familiar to you. They may be your small group leader, your child's Kids Crossing leader, a friend of your teenager, or the guy you sit next to every Sunday morning. Others may be totally unknown to you. Either way, I think you will find it refreshing and encouraging to hear from them! This year we’ve helped you put a face to a name by providing a photograph and a brief biography of the author.

In addition to the devotional element, each year we have a Christmas mission focus. This is a time we can be generous and bless one of our mission partners in a significant way. Our initiative this year is scholarships for children to attend the new Bombay Teen Challenge school in India. These children are set on the path into the sex trade industry. Attending this Bombay Teen Challenge school is currently the only available avenue out of that life. There are 15 children on the waiting list. All costs (clothes, food, medical care, etc.) for one year at the school is $2,500. Our goal is to provide one year of school for ten children, making our goal this year $25,000. Pray about what God would lead you and your family to do to make a difference in their lives.

I hope God shows you more of Himself through our Christmas season together.

Merry Christmas!
